Tooth Preparation

1. Thoroughly clean teeth to be bonded with Alpha-Pro ® No Added Color/Flavor/Fluoride Prophy Paste. Prophy paste which contains oil or fluoride should not be used as it may leave a residue which can inhibit bonding.

2. Rinse teeth thoroughly with water; dry with oil and moisture-free compressed air.

3. If using Alpha-dent® etchant or Alpha-Etch37® etch enamel for 15 seconds; never leave etchant on tooth for more than 60 seconds. Lightly agitating the etchant during its application can enhance its action.

4. Rinse teeth thoroughly with water to remove all traces of the etchant. Re-isolate and dry with oil-free and moisture-free compressed air. The surface should appear dull and frosty white. If not, repeat step 3.

Bracket Adhesive Application

1. Using a clean brush applicator, apply a thin uniform layer of primer to the dry etched enamel surface and to each bracket base.

2. Apply the bracket adhesive onto the bracket base. Place the bracket on the tooth with firm pressure so that excess adhesive is expressed from the perimeter of the bracket. The excess adhesive can be removed with an explorer or plastic instrument.

3. Position the bracket. The viscosity of the bracket adhesive is designed to prevent bracket flotation after positioning. The bracket adhesive will begin to harden within 50 seconds after placement on the tooth.

4. The bracket adhesive will set within 90 seconds after placement on the tooth. Archwires can be inserted and secured 5 minutes after the material sets.

5. After treatment is complete, remove brackets in the usual manner.
