PRODUCTS DETAILS
Alpha-Seal® is a light cure, resin-based Pit & Fissure Sealant with fluoride. This sealant contains 50% radiopaque nano-sized fillers. The hard setting, wear-resistant material has an ideal flowable viscosity for maximum coverage and protection to seal the pits and fi fissures of teeth susceptible to caries. The syringe needle tips allow for quick and accurate placement of the material. Alpha-Seal® is available in an Opaque shade to allow for easy identification during patient examinations and in a Clear shade for patients who wish to have an “invisible” sealant.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
1. Prepare the surface to be treated. The recommended method for preparing the occlusal surface is with an air slurry polisher with sodium bicarbonate slurry. If performing a prophylaxis on the occlusal surface, prophy paste which contains oil or fluoride should not be used as it may leave a residue which can inhibit bonding.
2. Rinse thoroughly with water to remove all residual preparation material from the pits and fissures.
3. Isolate the teeth to be sealed with cotton rolls and/or a rubber dam.
4. Dry thoroughly with moisture-free and oil-free compressed air. ®
5. Apply Alpha-Etch37 ® using the blue applicator tip to the occlusal surface. Wait for 15 seconds; never leave etchant on tooth for longer than 60 seconds. Lightly agitating the etchant during its application can enhance the action.
6. Rinse thoroughly with water. Wet cotton should be replaced. Salivary contamination must be avoided at this point. If contamination occurs repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
7. Dry the etched surfaces thoroughly with moisture-free and oil-free compressed air. The dry etched surface should appear dull and frosty white. If surface does not repeat steps 4, 5, and 6.
8. Apply Alpha-Seal® using the gray applicator tip to the pits and fissures. Remove excess sealant with brushes (if supplied) or other suitable instrument.
9. Using a light-curing unit (minimum output of 600mW/cm2), cure all Alpha-Seal ® coated surfaces for at least 20 seconds. Thicker or larger applications may require additional curing time.
10.Inspect the selected surfaces. If coverage is incomplete, apply additional sealant. If contamination of the etched surface has occurred, repeat steps beginning with step 4 above.
11.Check occlusion and adjust as required.
